In a statement on Saturday, the IRGC said the aircraft was struck at 3:45 a.m. local time in central Iran using the modern air defense systems of the IRGC Aerospace Force.
According to the statement, the aircraft was the third enemy fighter jet to be struck over Iranian airspace since the war began on February 28.
Israel says fighter jet hit over Iran
Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli military said that one of its fighter jets had come under anti-aircraft fire over Iran.
According to the Israeli military, the aircraft was targeted by a surface-to-air missile while en route to Tehran to carry out strikes. The military claimed that the pilots survived the attack.
On March 19, a US F-35 fighter jet was hit and seriously damaged over central Iran by the IRGC’s advanced aerospace defense systems.
The United States and the Israeli regime launched their joint military aggression against Iran on February 28, following a previous conflict in June last year. Both escalations occurred while Tehran was engaged in diplomatic talks with Washington over its peaceful nuclear program.
