Iran (IMNA) _ People gathered in Tehran’s main squares to pay tribute to the 84 navy personnel who were martyred aboard IRIS Dena on March 4 .
In dozens of other cities, people expressed their respect by holding similar ceremonies.
IRIS Dena was hit by an MK‑48 torpedo from a US submarine off the coast of Galle, Sri Lanka, after participating in a naval drill in India to which Iran had been officially invited.
Iran denounced the “cowardly” attack and vowed to retaliate decisively.
