Iran (IMNA) _ The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil. Baghaei, responded to recent international developments involving the Iranian women’s national football team, emphasizing that the country “awaits them with open arms.”
Baghaei condemned what he described as Western hypocrisy, referencing a past airstrike that, according to him, “killed 170 innocent elementary school girls in Minab with Tomahawk missiles.” He accused Western powers of now “seeking to take Iranian sportswomen hostage under the pretext of ‘rescuing them,’” calling it an act of “sheer hypocrisy and audacity.”
The statement underscores ongoing political tension surrounding international sports events involving Iranian athletes amid broader diplomatic disputes.
