Iran blasts UN chief for downplaying US-Israeli atrocities

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has sharply criticized the secretary-general of the United Nations for downplaying the human toll of the fresh unprovoked US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

Iran (IMNA) _  - Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks in a message addressed to António Guterres in a post on X on Friday.

‘Let’s call a spade a spade’

Baghaei began his message by urging the UN chief to describe the situation more directly.

"Let's call a spade a spade," he wrote, rejecting generic descriptions referring to the situation as simple “fighting” and underlining that Iran was facing a deliberate act of aggression.

“This is not 'the fighting'; this is an 'unprovoked act of aggression' launched by two nuclear armed regimes against Iran."
