Araghchi: Future of Iran–US Talks Hinges on Capital Consultations

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who led Iran’s delegation in the nuclear talks with the United States in Muscat on Friday, described the discussions as a good beginning, stressing that their continuation depends on consultations in the respective capitals.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking to Iranian national television, Araghchi said there was agreement on continuing the talks, adding that the time, place and manner of the next round would be decided later in the capitals.

He noted that several rounds of meetings were held throughout the day, during which both sides conveyed their viewpoints and concerns in what he described as a very positive atmosphere. “Overall, it was a good start, but its continuation depends on consultations in the capitals,” the top diplomat said.

Araghchi explained that the negotiations were intensive and lengthy, with indirect meetings taking place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. He further said that the date for the next round of talks would be determined in future consultations with his Omani counterpart.

“I don’t want to be quick to judge, but if the talks continue in this manner, an agreed framework can be reached,” Araghchi added.
