Iran Warns Any Military Attack Would Trigger Severe Regional Consequences

A report by Axios correspondent Barak Ravid says that despite publicly signaling military readiness to attack Iran, former U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly canceled the planned strike in the final hours of Wednesday following mounting pressure.

Iran (IMNA) - According to the report, prior to Wednesday, international pressure had prompted the U.S. national security team to review a range of possible scenarios, from cyberattacks to limited military operations against key targets in Iran. During this period, the Pentagon ordered heightened readiness for U.S. forces in the region, including preparations for limited missile strikes and maritime deterrence operations.

One of the main military obstacles identified was the complexity of logistical calculations. These assessments reportedly showed that sufficient equipment for an effective and sustained operation in the Persian Gulf region was not available, and that deploying such equipment would require more time.

Warnings from key U.S. allies, including Israel and Saudi Arabia, also played a significant role in the decision-making process. According to the report, these countries cautioned Trump that a U.S. military strike could provoke resistance groups from Yemen to Lebanon, potentially endangering their own interests. They also warned that they were not adequately prepared to deal with possible Iranian retaliation.

Axios further reported that the most decisive factor in Trump’s decision was the messages conveyed by Iran through intermediaries, which ultimately dissuaded him from issuing the final order to launch the attack.

Retreat of the Zionist Regime and Regional Allies

Alongside the Axios report, the continued state of alert in the occupied territories over several consecutive weeks has been cited as further confirmation of these concerns. Zionist media have announced that the heightened alert status in the occupied territories is expected to continue for weeks.

Israel’s Army Radio had previously reported that Pentagon officials were worried about the lack of sufficient American combat power in the Middle East (West Asia) to confront a potential Iranian response. Meanwhile, the Times of Israel reported that Trump is facing a complex challenge, as he had believed he could deliver a decisive blow to Iran but instead received warnings suggesting he could be drawn into a difficult battle or even a full-scale war.

Iran’s Deterrent Power Highlighted

These assessments indicate that even a limited attack on Iran would likely be met with a decisive response, underscoring Iran’s deterrent capabilities. Observers note that the prospect of a war with Iran would carry far-reaching consequences for West Asia.

Warnings issued by allies such as Israel and Saudi Arabia reflect their own concerns following the experience of the 12-day war in June 2025. According to admissions by the Zionist regime, it would be unable to withstand Iranian strikes similar to those seen during that conflict within a short timeframe. Saudi Arabia and other Arab states are also said to be aware of their own vulnerabilities and the limitations of U.S. security guarantees.

Ultimately, the reports and reactions suggest a broad recognition that any military attack against Iran would come at a high cost, with significant regional repercussions.
