Iran Releases Official Death Toll from Foreign-Backed Violence Following Protests

Iranian authorities have released official figures regarding fatalities linked to what they describe as foreign-backed terrorist actions that occurred after recent peaceful protests.

Iran (IMNA) - In a statement issued on Wednesday, Iran’s Martyrs Foundation and Veterans Affairs Organization said that a total of 3,117 people were killed during the foreign-instigated acts of terrorism. According to the statement, 2,427 of those killed were members of the security forces or innocent civilians who were martyred, while the remaining fatalities were identified as perpetrators or armed terrorists supported from abroad.

The Foundation noted that the victims included security personnel as well as civilians from different segments of society who were targeted in shootings and indiscriminate terrorist attacks, including passersby and even children.

The statement concluded by stressing that the Iranian nation will not forgive what it described as terrorists linked to the Zionist regime and their supporters, adding that those responsible for these acts, as well as their backers, will be held accountable.
