Iran (IMNA) - During a public gathering in Tehran on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian remarked that the nation's adversaries seek to hinder Iran's progress through sanctions and economic restrictions while falsely presenting themselves as defenders of the Iranian populace, according to President.ir.
He criticized those who have committed extensive crimes and mass killings for now claiming to champion human rights, labeling such claims as deeply contradictory.
Addressing the humanitarian crises in Gaza, Lebanon, and Palestine, the president pointed out significant human rights violations. Pezeshkian noted that women, children, the elderly, and civilians are indiscriminately targeted by bombardments, even as the perpetrators tout their commitment to human rights. This is a truly catastrophic situation, he emphasized.
President Pezeshkian reiterated that the true source of Iran’s wealth and power lies within its populace, stressing the need for all governing institutions—including the administration, parliament, councils, and others—to maintain a close connection to the public.
“My only demand is for Iran to stand proud and for its people to live with dignity,” he asserted, vowing to make every effort within the framework of the Supreme Leader’s policies to attain this objective.
The president also highlighted the significance of dialogue and free expression, echoing the Supreme Leader’s call for creating forums for open discussions in universities. He emphasized that students are a national asset, and the people represent the country’s greatest capital. The government's responsibility is to listen to citizens and address their concerns.
Additionally, President Pezeshkian reaffirmed the government's commitment to transparency, encouraging media outlets and oversight bodies to meticulously evaluate officials' performances.
