Iran Warns IAEA of US Threats to Nuclear Program

Iran’s Permanent Mission to international organizations in Vienna has submitted a letter to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in response to recent US threats against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Iran (IMNA) - In the letter, the Iranian mission cautioned about the dangerous consequences of normalizing such threats, stressing that they undermine the credibility of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the global Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The mission emphasized that normalizing these threats would erode international trust built through the Agency’s verification activities. It urged that such reckless actions must be condemned and that those responsible should be held fully accountable.

At a joint press conference with Israeli regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on December 29, US President Donald Trump stated that while Washington is ready to engage in dialogue with Tehran, the option of using force remains on the table.

"I hope they're not trying to build up again, because if they are, we're going to have no choice but very quickly to eradicate that buildup," Trump declared.

The confrontational tone of Trump’s remarks prompted swift reactions. Within hours of the December 29 threat, senior Iranian officials across political, military, and diplomatic circles issued firm responses, rejecting Washington’s rhetoric and reaffirming Iran’s right to defend its sovereignty and national security.
