Iran (IMNA) - During the call, the two leaders discussed the state of bilateral relations, issues of mutual interest, and the progress of executing joint agreements. Stressing the strategic nature of Iran–Russia ties, Pezeshkian and Putin highlighted the need for continued regular consultations and stronger coordination to further develop comprehensive relations.
They also reviewed the achievements of bilateral cooperation so far. According to a statement released by the Iranian Presidency website, President Pezeshkian outlined progress in areas including transportation, transit, energy, and power plants.
Pezeshkian described the recent meeting between the heads of state of the two countries in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, as “very constructive and positive,” calling for precise implementation and faster execution of joint projects, as well as the continuation of constant communication between Tehran and Moscow. He also stressed the importance of operationalizing agreements across all fields of cooperation.
In another part of the conversation, the Iranian president congratulated the Russian people and government on the New Year, wishing them peace, prosperity, and sustainable progress on the occasion of Christmas.
For his part, President Putin expressed satisfaction with the strong and strategic level of relations between the two countries. Referring to a 10 percent increase in bilateral trade during the first 10 months of the current year, he emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation and accelerate the implementation of agreements in all sectors.
Putin also described recent remarks by the US president and the Israeli prime minister against the Islamic Republic of Iran as “regrettable.”
The two presidents concluded the call by stressing the continuation of dialogue and interaction, enhancement of economic and energy cooperation, and advancement of agreements in the areas of transit, transportation, and power plants.
