Iran VP Says Space Achievements Show Defiance of Sanctions

Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref says the country’s advances in space technology clearly demonstrate national progress despite what he described as unjust sanctions.

Iran (IMNA) - Following the successful launch of three Iranian satellites on Sunday, Aref praised the achievement in a letter addressed to Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyyed Sattar Hashemi.

Congratulating the launch of the indigenous satellites Paya, Zafar-2 and the upgraded Kowsar, Aref said the success was made possible through the knowledge and efforts of Iranian youth.

“Space technologies are a clear manifestation of the progress of a country that has stood against unjust sanctions,” Aref wrote, adding that Iran is now presenting the results of its persistence in independence and freedom to its people across various fields, including medicine, nanotechnology, space industries and nuclear science.

He emphasized that the dedication of young experts in the space sector represents an important component of Iranian-Islamic identity, noting that domestically built satellites embody hope for the future and aspirations for higher levels of progress.

In his letter, Aref also expressed appreciation for researchers and elite scientists working in Iran’s space sector, particularly at the Iranian Space Agency and the Iranian Space Research Center, and wished them continued success on the global stage of science and technology.
