Araghchi: Iranian Nation Refused to Bow to Aggression During 12-Day War

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the Iranian people demonstrated during the 12-day war waged by the Israeli regime with US backing that they would not submit to aggression and bullying.

Iran (IMNA) - Addressing a seminar titled “Explanation of the country’s foreign policy and regional circumstances” attended by businesspeople in the city of Isfahan on Thursday, Araghchi said that in the course of 12 days of resistance, it was the enemy that was ultimately forced to retreat. He noted that calls were even made for immediate ceasefire negotiations, which, he said, amounted to nothing more than an acceptance of surrender, while the Iranian nation chose to remain steadfast.

The foreign minister also criticized some domestic media for exaggerating the impact of snapback mechanisms, saying the narratives presented to the public were far greater than the actual reality. According to Araghchi, such portrayals aimed to psychologically paralyze the country’s economy by creating fear, whereas in practice these tools are not as effective as claimed.

Explaining the responsibilities of the Foreign Ministry, Araghchi said its first mission is to work toward lifting sanctions, a task that has never been abandoned and is pursued while safeguarding the country’s principles, dignity, and interests. He described the experience of the JCPOA and subsequent negotiations as a valuable asset.

He added that the ministry’s second mission is to directly support the national economy, stressing that while sanctions exist, the country can still move forward despite them. Sanctions, he said, impose costs, but Iran is aware of both those costs and the opportunities they create to address and correct internal weaknesses.
