UK, Iran Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties and Nuclear Issue

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on Friday, where they exchanged views on bilateral relations, consular matters, and the Iranian nuclear issue.

Iran (IMNA) - The two diplomats discussed a range of bilateral and international topics. They stressed the need to continue consultations at various levels to enhance mutual understanding and follow up on issues of mutual interest.

Araghchi criticized the irresponsible approach of three European countries toward Iran's nuclear issue. He emphasized that Iran has never rejected negotiations or dialogue based on respect for the legal rights and legitimate interests of the Iranian nation, but firmly opposes talks that amount to unilateral imposition.

Cooper, for her part, reiterated Britain's position on the necessity of using diplomacy to address Iran's nuclear issue.
