UN General Assembly Overwhelmingly Adopts Five Pro-Palestine Resolutions

The United Nations General Assembly has overwhelmingly approved five resolutions on Palestine, addressing refugee assistance, the mandate of UNRWA, Palestinian property rights, human rights violations, and Israeli settlement activities.

Iran (IMNA) - According to the Palestinian Information Center, the resolution on aid to Palestinian refugees received strong backing, with 151 countries voting in favor, 10 against, and 14 abstaining.

A second resolution, extending the mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) for an additional three years and outlining its activities, passed with 145 votes in favor, 10 against, and 18 abstentions.

The third resolution, concerning Palestinian refugees’ property and revenues generated from it, secured support from 157 member states, while 10 countries opposed it and nine abstained.

The fourth resolution, related to the Special Committee tasked with investigating Israeli practices affecting the human rights of Palestinians and other Arabs living under occupation, was adopted with 88 votes in favor, 19 against, and 64 abstentions.

The fifth resolution condemned Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including al-Quds and the occupied Syrian Golan. It passed with 146 votes in favor, 13 against, and 17 abstentions.

Riyad Mansour, Permanent Representative of Palestine to the UN, thanked member states for their wide support and highlighted the growing international solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly regarding refugee-related issues. He described this backing as especially meaningful at a time when Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank face what he called Israel’s brutal aggression.
