Iran (IMNA) - Speaking to Al-Masirah, Eslami described the attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites as unparalleled, noting that it was aimed directly at facilities operating under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. He said the timing and nature of the strike showed that the United States and its allies had entered a new phase of escalation against Iran’s scientific progress.
Eslami condemned the targeting of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure as a “clear crime” against a nation determined to preserve its right to peaceful nuclear technology. He added that Iran has full evidence identifying the nature of the attack, those responsible, and their objectives, reaffirming that Tehran “will not renounce its rights or allow others to impose their will.”
On Sunday, speaking on the sidelines of the international conference “International Law Under Attack: Aggression and Defense,” Eslami said Iran would maintain its nuclear program regardless of any potential resolutions adopted at the IAEA Board of Governors. He criticized the failure of both the IAEA Director General and the Board to condemn the attacks, calling it a violation of international norms and an example of ongoing double standards.
Eslami reiterated that Iran’s nuclear path has been transparent from the outset and that Tehran will continue on its strategic course. He further stressed that Resolution 2231’s ten-year term expired in October 2025, noting that Iran has fulfilled its commitments and that the Agency should now restrict its oversight to standard safeguards.
The recent escalation began on June 13, when Israel launched attacks on Iran amid ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington. The confrontation expanded into a 12-day conflict that resulted in more than 1,064 fatalities, including military personnel, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The United States subsequently bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, which Iran denounced as a severe violation of international law.
Iran responded by striking strategic locations in the occupied territories as well as the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The retaliatory operations carried out by Iranian forces on June 24 ultimately forced an end to the hostilities.
