Iran Reinforces Military Readiness Across All Domains: Army Official

A senior Iranian Army official has announced that the Islamic Republic is continuously enhancing its military capabilities in all operational domains, describing this effort as a “permanent strategic directive.”

Iran (IMNA) - Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army for Coordination Affairs, made the remarks on the sidelines of the 4th International Military Medicine Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, held in Tehran.

Sayyari emphasized that the Iranian Army has prioritized the strengthening of its air force and other defense branches since the Iran–Iraq war, asserting that constant preparedness is essential in the face of evolving threats.

The top commander also highlighted the directives of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who has repeatedly stressed the need to bolster military power across all dimensions.

“We must always move on this path and be prepared for future threats. Enhancing capabilities in ground forces, air force, air defense, navy, cyber, and all battlefields has always been on our agenda,” Sayyari noted.

Referring to the recent 12-day Israeli-imposed war against Iran, the admiral stated that the Army has incorporated the lessons learned from that conflict to address any weaknesses, much as it did during the COVID-19 crisis.

On June 13, Israel launched what Iranian officials called a blatant and unprovoked attack during ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington. The assault triggered a 12-day war, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,064 Iranians, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

The United States joined the conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear facilities, a move Tehran denounced as a serious breach of international law. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on strategic targets in the occupied territories and on the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest U.S. military installation in West Asia.

By June 24, Iran’s counteroperations had successfully halted the aggression, according to military sources.

Sayyari further stated that the current readiness level of Iran’s armed forces is “very high”, noting that forces have been repeatedly tested under real combat conditions. Strengthening combat capacity, he reiterated, remains a permanent and strategic objective.

Commenting on the SCO military medicine conference, Sayyari said the event—organized by the Army’s University of Medical Sciences —focused on health, treatment, and medical cooperation among SCO member states, including China, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

He described the conference as an opportunity to expand military medical experience sharing and deepen defense-related cooperation among the organization’s members.

Sayyari also pointed to Iran’s recent full membership in the SCO, which he said has elevated the country’s position within the bloc. Hosting such international events, he added, enhances collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The admiral further highlighted Iran’s active engagement in other regional defense forums, including the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), where Tehran plays a “significant role” in ensuring maritime security in the northern Indian Ocean.
