Iran (IMNA) - Ghalibaf, who arrived in Pakistan at the head of a parliamentary delegation, met with Ayaz Sadiq at the National Assembly in Islamabad. Expressing satisfaction with his visit, he thanked the Pakistani people for their support of Iran in the face of Israeli aggression, noting that such solidarity reflects the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
He stated that standing together in difficult times demonstrates the strength of Tehran–Islamabad relations, expressing hope that the visit would further reinforce inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Referring to the recent Israeli attack on Iranian territory, Ghalibaf said that despite the challenging early hours, Iran responded swiftly and decisively. He noted that since the establishment of the Israeli regime in 1948, it had never experienced such a significant blow.
Ghalibaf stressed that Iran and Pakistan, given their many shared interests, can work closely together to confront Israeli expansionism and those who support it. He highlighted the broad potential for cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, and cultural fields, reaffirming that the goal of his visit is to deepen these partnerships. Economic cooperation, he emphasized, remains a top priority, expressing hope for success in expanding bilateral trade.
Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its supportive stance toward the Pakistani nation and government. Congratulating Iran on its response to the Israeli attack, he said the Pakistani parliament had passed a resolution condemning the assault, noting that from Pakistan’s perspective, Israel is a common enemy of both nations. He added that Iran and Pakistan are “one nation divided by a border.”
Sadiq further announced that the Iran–Pakistan parliamentary friendship groups would soon convene to develop a new strategy for advancing bilateral cooperation, with senior parliamentary officials from both sides set to engage in detailed discussions on strengthening ties and pursuing joint initiatives.
