Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Baghaei said Iran “will maintain its alertness at all levels,” stressing that the Islamic Republic remains cautious toward the Zionist regime’s history of deceit and violations of agreements.
The spokesperson also dismissed criticism over Iran’s absence from the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, emphasizing that regional influence is not measured by attendance at international gatherings. “Iran’s role and impact in regional developments cannot be confined to participation or non-participation in such events,” he stated.
Baghaei highlighted that over the past two years, Iran has been among the most active countries in urging the Zionist regime and its allies to end the ongoing genocide in Gaza, using diplomatic channels at both regional and international levels, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Responding to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks thanking Iran for the Gaza ceasefire deal, the spokesperson noted that Tehran’s position has been clearly outlined in two official statements. “Iran welcomes any genuine step that helps alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and brings an end to the genocide,” he said, adding that Tehran’s principled stance remains unchanged regardless of “political noise.”
Baghaei further underscored that, after more than 700 days of ongoing atrocities in Gaza, an understanding had been reached for the Israeli regime to halt its attacks, reiterating Iran’s firm and transparent position on the matter. He called on the international community and regional actors to stay alert and ensure that the Israeli regime does not repeat its long record of breaching agreements.
The spokesperson concluded by stressing that while Tehran remains open to dialogue with friendly nations such as Russia, it continues to monitor regional dynamics with caution and resolve.
