Iran (IMNA) - In a phone call on Wednesday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Pezeshkian condemned Israel’s strikes on Qatar and an assassination attempt on Hamas leaders. He criticized the Israeli regime for acting without regard to rules or frameworks, attacking countries at will.
Pezeshkian praised el-Sisi’s clear condemnation of Israel’s attack in Qatar and expressed hope that Muslim nations would come together to prevent further Israeli assaults. The recent Israeli strike in Doha, which targeted senior Hamas officials discussing Gaza ceasefire proposals, killed six people and marked a significant escalation since the Gaza conflict began in October 2023. Qatar, a key mediator between Hamas and Israel, was directly attacked.
The assault drew condemnation from world leaders, regional resistance groups, and various international and religious organizations. Pezeshkian invited el-Sisi to visit Tehran soon to strengthen mutual relations and Muslim world cohesion.
El-Sisi welcomed the recent Iran-IAEA agreement reached in Cairo between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, highlighting Iran’s sincerity and willingness to maintain regional peace and security. He reaffirmed Egypt’s firm opposition to aggression on Muslim lands and stressed the need for a collective, decisive response to Israel’s expansionist ambitions in the region.
