Judiciary Confirms Discovery of Enemy-Linked Networks Amidst Evin Prison Attack; Denounces Israeli Role as Terrorist Act

At a press briefing on Saturday, Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir revealed that enemy-linked networks have been identified within the country, thanks to valuable intelligence gathered by security and intelligence forces.

Iran (IMNA) - He assured the public that follow-up actions are being conducted swiftly, decisively, and precisely, promising further information will be shared soon.

Addressing claims that the recent attack on Evin Prison aimed to eliminate certain spies by Israel, Jahangir stated, “I do not confirm this claim.” However, he emphasized that the Israeli regime’s objective was to demonstrate its blatant disregard for international norms.

“The Zionist regime’s objective in the attack was to show that it places no value on international rules,” Jahangir said, highlighting that such behavior aligns with Israel’s history of human rights violations, which have gone unpunished.

He described the attack as a cowardly attempt to instill fear and discourage public support for the Islamic Revolution, Islam, and Iran. The strike resulted in the deaths and injuries of ordinary citizens, prison staff, judiciary employees, prisoners’ families, and local residents.

Jahangir further condemned the assault on Evin Prison as a terrorist act and a crime against humanity, violating all international norms. He called on the international community, especially those vocal about human rights, to take concrete legal action against Israel for its crimes.

Regarding the aftermath, Jahangir confirmed that a small number of inmates escaped during the attack. “A few prisoners exploited the situation to flee, but their number is not significant,” he said, adding that some inmates helped the wounded instead of escaping.

“No high-profile detainees were among the escapees, and the fugitives will certainly be apprehended and returned to prison,” he concluded.
