Iran (IMNA) - Addressing reporters, Baghaei emphasized, “Our nuclear program will definitely continue with seriousness,” underscoring that a halt to Iran’s nuclear activities is not a topic in the current diplomatic exchanges.
Baghaei further clarified that Tehran’s objective in the talks is to safeguard its nuclear achievements and to end what he described as unjust sanctions imposed on the Iranian nation. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and insisted that the country’s nuclear program remains within the framework of international law and under daily monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The fourth round of negotiations between Iranian and American delegations took place in Muscat, Oman, on Sunday. The Iranian team was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US delegation was headed by President Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Oman served as the mediator in these discussions, which both sides described as productive and progressing well.
The talks are primarily focused on limiting Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of some US-imposed economic sanctions, with the goal of reaching a new agreement to replace the 2015 deal from which the US withdrew in 2018. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, significant disagreements remain, particularly regarding the scope and level of uranium enrichment and the fate of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium. Both sides have agreed to continue negotiations, with the next round expected to be scheduled soon.
Baghaei also reaffirmed Iran’s readiness for diplomacy and its insistence on the right to peaceful nuclear energy, dismissing external pressures and unrelated issues raised during the talks.
