Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Baghaei refuted accusations of Iranian involvement in Yemen, stressing that such assertions are baseless and serve as a distraction from what he described as the real issue-the continued genocide in Gaza and Palestine.
Baghaei highlighted that the only entity in the region acting as a proxy for another power is Israel, which, he said, has been a source of instability and chaos. He emphasized that the actions of the Yemeni people stem from their humanitarian and religious solidarity with Palestinians and their right to self-defense against repeated US aggression.
He further underlined the independence of Yemeni decisions, stating there is no connection between Iran and Yemeni activities as alleged. "Iran neither has nor needs a proxy in the region," Baghaei asserted, reiterating that attributing Yemeni actions to Iran is an insult to the Yemeni nation's agency and resilience.
Baghaei also condemned the US military's actions in Yemen, describing attacks on civilian infrastructure as war crimes and violations of international law, and criticized efforts to deflect attention from the situation in Gaza by blaming Iran for developments in Yemen.
The Iranian spokesman concluded by holding the US and Israel responsible for the consequences of their actions in the region and reaffirmed Iran’s stance that the Yemeni people’s support for Palestine is an independent decision rooted in humanitarian and Islamic solidarity.
