Iran (IMNA) -Posting on the X social media platform, Araghchi emphasized, “As a founding signatory to the NPT, Iran has every right to possess the full nuclear fuel cycle.” He further stated that repeating “falsehoods” would not alter this fundamental fact. Araghchi noted that several other NPT member states also enrich uranium while rejecting nuclear weapons, listing countries from Asia, Europe, and South America as examples.
The foreign minister cautioned against “maximalist positioning and incendiary rhetoric,” warning that such approaches only diminish the prospects for successful negotiations. He asserted that a “credible and durable agreement is within reach,” provided there is sufficient political will and a fair attitude.
Iran has consistently maintained that Article IV of the NPT grants all signatories the inalienable right to develop research, production, and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, including the full nuclear fuel cycle. This interpretation has been a central point in ongoing international discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
