Iran (IMNA) - The meeting was requested by six members of the 15-member council: France, Greece, Panama, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These nations also seek to discuss Iran's obligations to provide the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with critical information regarding undeclared nuclear material detected at multiple sites in Iran.
Iran has consistently denied pursuing nuclear weapons, asserting that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. The country also cites a religious decree (Fatwa) issued by its Supreme Leader prohibiting the possession and use of weapons of mass destruction. Iran’s mission to the UN has not yet commented on the planned meeting.
