Ghalibaf: Iran Can Neutralize Sanctions, Won’t Wait for US Negotiations

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared that Iran is fully capable of neutralizing sanctions and will not wait for any correspondence from the United States.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a public session of Parliament on Sunday, Ghalibaf emphasized the importance of addressing economic challenges in line with directives from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

"I must emphasize the full readiness of the Parliament to implement his wise directives," Ghalibaf stated, highlighting that the government’s priority must be resolving the livelihood issues of its citizens. He reiterated that the Parliament's main focus, with divine assistance, will be on tackling these economic challenges and maintaining cohesion among state institutions as essential for success.

Responding to claims made by the US president regarding negotiations with Iran, Ghalibaf asserted that such statements are deceptive. He accused the US of attempting to impose its demands and disarm Iran, as outlined in a signed policy document. He firmly stated that negotiations conducted under threats and with an agenda for new concessions will not lead to lifting sanctions or anything but humiliation for the Iranian nation.

“Today, more than ever, it has become clear that lifting sanctions is possible through strengthening Iran and neutralizing sanctions,” he said. “Therefore, we are not waiting for any letter from the United States.” Ghalibaf expressed confidence that by leveraging domestic capacities and expanding foreign relations, Iran could reach a position where adversaries would have no choice but to lift sanctions during ongoing negotiations related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

These remarks followed a claim by the US president on Friday that he had sent a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei proposing negotiations over Iran's nuclear program. However, Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations quickly dismissed this claim, stating they had not received such a letter.

In response to these developments, Ayatollah Khamenei remarked that the insistence of certain powers on engaging in talks with Iran is not aimed at resolving issues but rather at imposing their expectations. "Absolutely, the Islamic Republic will not accept their expectations," he affirmed.
