Iran, Qatar Strengthen Ties in High-Level Diplomatic Talks

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, recently concluded a one-day visit to Qatar, where he engaged in significant discussions with Qatari officials.

Iran (IMNA) -During his trip to Doha, Gharibabadi met with Minister of State for International Cooperation Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad and Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh al-Khulaifi.

In a post on X, Gharibabadi detailed that the meetings focused on enhancing Iran-Qatar relations and exploring mutual interests. Both sides also discussed strategies to bolster cooperation between the two nations. Additionally, Gharibabadi visited Qatar's National Human Rights Committee, where he agreed with its chair to facilitate the sharing of experiences between the rights institutions of both countries.

The diplomatic engagement comes as Iran and Qatar continue to enjoy robust economic and political ties, which have flourished since mid-2017. At that time, Tehran provided substantial support to Doha following a blockade by several Arab states. Qatar has played a pivotal role in mediating regional issues, including those involving Iran.

Reports indicate that the two countries aim to increase their annual trade exchanges to $1 billion, further solidifying their economic partnership.
