Russian FM Lavrov to Visit Tehran for High-Level Talks on Bilateral and Regional Issues

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to visit Tehran this week for important discussions with Iranian officials, as confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Iran (IMNA) - Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that the exact date of the visit will be announced later, indicating it is planned for the near future.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei also confirmed that Lavrov's visit is scheduled for Tuesday, where he will engage in bilateral and regional consultations. The discussions aim to address ongoing diplomatic dialogues between Iran and Russia concerning their bilateral relations, regional issues, and international developments.

During his visit, Lavrov is expected to meet with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, and other senior officials. The talks will focus on various topics reflecting the current status of relations between Tehran and Moscow, as well as broader regional and global political dynamics.

This upcoming trip follows Lavrov's last visit to Iran in October 2023, which aimed to address tensions in the South Caucasus. The strengthening ties between Iran and Russia come amid significant Western sanctions against both nations, further solidifying their strategic partnership.
