Iran, Turkmenistan Aim to Broaden Relations, Pezeshkian Highlights

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Iran's commitment to expanding relations with Turkmenistan across various sectors.

Iran (IMNA) - During a meeting with Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, in Tehran on Wednesday, Pezeshkian stressed that Iran's foreign policy is based on good neighborliness. He also stated that Iran welcomes further cooperation with Turkmenistan in different fields.

Pezeshkian mentioned his recent phone conversation with Turkmenistan's national leader, noting that he has instructed relevant authorities to enhance relations with Turkmenistan's government and remove obstacles to facilitate the implementation of joint projects between the two countries.

Additionally, Pezeshkian highlighted the upcoming summit of prime ministers from Caspian Sea littoral states in Tehran. He emphasized Iran's desire to expand relations among these countries based on peace, friendship, and good neighborliness, with a focus on practical solutions for developing cooperation to be discussed at the summit.

Meredov expressed Turkmenistan's strong interest in strengthening relations with Iran across all fields and invited Pezeshkian to the International Conference on Peace and Trust in Turkmenistan. He also noted the upcoming Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, expressing hope that it will further expand trade and economic relations between the two countries.
