Iran Reaffirms Support for Lebanon's Stability in Meeting with UN Coordinator

In a significant meeting on Tuesday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi engaged with Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, in Tehran to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon.

Iran (IMNA) - Araghchi reiterated Iran's commitment to supporting Lebanon's government, people, and Resistance, emphasizing the importance of national unity during the formation of a new government following recent political progress.

Araghchi expressed satisfaction with the national consensus achieved in electing a new president and drew parallels between the current situation in Lebanon and Hezbollah's resilience after the 2006 Israeli war. He highlighted that despite ongoing Israeli aggression, Hezbollah has emerged as a strong and influential force within Lebanon.

The Iranian diplomat condemned Israel's repeated ceasefire violations and called for the United Nations to take a more proactive stance in pressuring Israel to cease its aggression and withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories. He also urged the UN to accelerate humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts for those affected by conflict.

Plasschaert, for her part, provided insights from her recent consultations, underscoring Iran's vital role in fostering long-term stability and security in Lebanon and the broader region. She expressed hope that adherence to ceasefire agreements would facilitate lasting peace and humanitarian support for displaced individuals while aiding in the reconstruction of war-torn areas.
