Iran's President Pezeshkian Signals Potential for Military Cooperation with Russia Amid Growing Strategic Partnership

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has not dismissed the possibility of establishing comprehensive military cooperation with Russia in the future.

Iran (IMNA) - In an interview on the Soloviev Live TV show, Pezeshkian stated, "Naturally, we will try to develop cooperation in all fields where we can help each other, in the military and security spheres, too," when asked about the potential for ongoing military-technical and defense collaboration between Tehran and Moscow.

Pezeshkian emphasized that adversaries should not underestimate Iran's resilience, asserting, "The enemy should have no illusions that we can easily be defeated." He criticized Western nations, particularly the US and Europe, for fostering "Iranophobia" within the international community and noted that their negative portrayal extends to Russia as well. "They are currently creating a wrong image of Russia," he remarked, highlighting the West's control over media narratives and international relations.

The Iranian leader expressed optimism about the growing alignment of views between Iran and Russia. He stated that cooperation from nations advocating for freedom and independence could dismantle the "Western totalitarian and unipolar world order." Pezeshkian affirmed a shared vision with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding multipolarity in global affairs, stating, "Our relations are filled with a camaraderie feeling; we hold similar beliefs."

This dialogue follows a significant agreement signed on January 17 between Pezeshkian and Putin in Moscow, which aims to strengthen bilateral security and defense ties through a comprehensive strategic partnership. This treaty is expected to enhance military cooperation and deepen collaboration across various sectors, marking a pivotal moment in Iran-Russia relations.
