Displaced Gazans Await Ceasefire as Israel-Hamas Agreement Set to Begin

The countdown has begun for the displaced people of Gaza, who are eagerly anticipating a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, scheduled to take effect on Sunday morning at 08:30 AM local time.

Iran (IMNA) - This ceasefire agreement, reached after prolonged negotiations, is seen as a significant setback for the Israeli regime, which failed to achieve its objectives during its extensive military campaign against the Gaza Strip.

On the first day of the ceasefire, Hamas is expected to release three living female prisoners in exchange for 95 Palestinians currently held in Israeli prisons, primarily women and children. This exchange will commence after 4 PM local time (14:00 GMT) and will be facilitated by the Red Cross, as reported by Al Jazeera.

In addition to the prisoner exchange, Israeli troops are set to withdraw from Gaza’s population centers. Within the first six weeks of the ceasefire, they will retreat to a buffer zone approximately one kilometer (0.6 miles) wide along Gaza's borders with occupied Palestine. Furthermore, Israel plans to ease its blockade on Gaza, allowing 600 trucks of humanitarian supplies to enter. The United Nations and various aid agencies are prepared to deliver essential food, water, medicine, and shelter materials.

As the ceasefire approaches, media sources have released footage showing several Israeli military units beginning their withdrawal from Gaza. This retreat follows a series of Israeli attacks across Gaza in the hours leading up to the ceasefire, with strikes reported in Gaza City, Deir el-Balah, Nuseirat, Rafah, and Khan Younis.
