The 43rd edition of the Fajr International Theater Festival (FITF) has garnered submissions from 46 countries, as announced by the festival's organizers.

Iran (IMNA) - A total of 231 works from nations including Russia, Norway, Sweden, Canada, and various African countries have applied to participate in this year's event, according to Mojgan Vakili, the director of the international section of the festival. This announcement was made during a press conference held in Tehran on Saturday.

Notably, the international section of the festival will be conducted as a non-competitive segment. "The decision to host the international section non-competitively was made by the festival organizers," Vakili stated. She also revealed that 20 works have been prioritized for final selection, leading to six stage performances and one online presentation.

In addition, 15 international instructors have expressed interest in conducting workshops at the festival, representing countries such as Canada, France, Tunisia, and India. After reviewing the quality of proposed topics, a workshop titled "Exploring Contemporary Theater," featuring an instructor from India, is set to be held over three days during the festival.

This year's edition will also spotlight a special section dedicated to the oppressed people of Gaza, with six stage works scheduled for presentation in this segment.

The 43rd Fajr International Theater Festival is set to take place in Tehran from January 22 to February 1.
