Iran (IMNA) - He described the ongoing violence in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria as a humanitarian crisis, stating, "It is our religious, legal, and humanitarian duty to take more practical and immediate actions to prevent further harm to our loved ones in crisis-hit areas".
Pezeshkian condemned the actions of Israel, claiming that the "Zionist regime is seeking to spread instability in the region through massacres". He expressed hope that under Egypt's chairmanship of the D-8 organization, there would be a "deepening of friendship and brotherhood among members" and significant progress in enhancing multilateral cooperation.
Highlighting the importance of investing in the youth of Muslim nations, Pezeshkian indicated Iran's readiness to establish a joint D-8 bank and called for an increase in trade among member states. He underscored the potential of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve the future of D-8 nations.
This summit marks Pezeshkian's first visit to Egypt as president, a significant diplomatic event as relations between Iran and Egypt have historically been strained since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
