Iran's Foreign Minister Stresses No Benefit from Renewed War in Syria

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has asserted that no party stands to gain from another war in Syria. His comments came after a recent trip to Syria and Turkey, where he engaged in discussions with Syrian President Bashar Assad and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Iran (IMNA) - In a post on his X account, Araghchi highlighted the importance of his meetings, stating, "Important talks with President Assad and straightforward constructive discussion with FM Fidan. My trip from Damascus to Ankara was among rare direct flights." He emphasized a consensus among leaders: "NO ONE benefits from another war in Syria. Conflict carries 100%-guaranteed spillover of terrorism to the whole neighborhood."

Reiterating Iran's support for Syria, Araghchi declared, "As always, Iran stands with the Syrian people, Government, and Army in their fight against terrorism—and ready to assist and support regional de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy."

This statement follows a significant escalation in violence, as Takfiri terrorists led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham launched a large-scale offensive in Aleppo and Idlib provinces on Wednesday, capturing several areas. In response, Syrian government forces have engaged in intense clashes to reclaim lost territory.

Since the onset of foreign-sponsored militancy in March 2011, Damascus has accused Western states and their regional allies of supporting terrorist groups that destabilize the country. The recent developments underscore the ongoing complexities of the Syrian conflict as various factions vie for control amidst international geopolitical interests.
