Iran (IMNA) - In light of recent developments, Baghaei condemned the movements of these groups as part of a broader scheme by the "Zionist regime" and the United States aimed at destabilizing West Asia.
Baghaei emphasized the critical need for vigilance and collaboration among neighboring countries, particularly those bordering Syria, to counter this emerging threat. He pointed out that areas around Aleppo and Idlib are designated as de-escalation zones under the Astana Peace Process agreements involving Iran, Turkey, and Russia. He asserted that attacks by terrorist groups in these regions represent a serious violation of these agreements and jeopardize the progress made in stabilizing Syria.
The Iranian diplomat reminded the international community of its collective responsibility to combat terrorism, cautioning that delays in addressing these threats could reverse years of progress against terrorism and plunge the region into renewed instability. In his remarks, Baghaei also paid tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives defending regional security against Takfiri terrorism, expressing condolences for the martyrdom of Brigadier General Kiumars (Hashem) Pourhashemi during clashes with terrorist factions near Aleppo. He reaffirmed Iran's unwavering support for the Syrian government and its people in their fight against terrorism.
