Iran’s Baghaei Condemns G7 for Supporting Israeli Aggression, Affirms Right to Self-Defense

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has firmly rejected and condemned the "baseless claims" made by G7 foreign ministers during a recent meeting in Rome.

Iran (IMNA) - In a statement released on Tuesday, Baghaei characterized the G7's assertions as reflective of their "illegal, unjust, unilateral, discriminatory, and coercive approaches," which he argued have inflicted significant harm on international peace and security.

Baghaei highlighted that the G7's actions exemplify their support for what he termed "genocide and warmongering" by the Israeli regime in Gaza and Lebanon. He expressed regret over the G7's undermining of the rule of law in international relations through their "double-standard and selective behavior" regarding various global issues.

Furthermore, Baghaei categorically dismissed allegations concerning Iran's alleged shipment of weapons to Russia, asserting that these claims are misleading and unfounded.He emphasized Iran's inherent right to self-defense as enshrined in the United Nations Charter and international law, stating that Iran reserves the right to respond to any aggression against its national sovereignty.

He criticized the G7 for adopting policies that contravene international law and jeopardize regional peace and security, accusing them of reversing the roles of victim and perpetrator. Baghaei reiterated Iran's commitment to regional stability, stating that the Islamic Republic will continue to fulfill its responsibilities in this regard.In conclusion, he reaffirmed that Iran "categorically rejects" any allegations related to arms sales or transfers to Russia, labeling them as completely unfounded. Tehran has consistently denied Western accusations of its involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
