Iran (IMNA) - Araqhchi arrived in Lisbon on Monday at the joint invitation of the United Nations and the Portuguese foreign minister to attend this high-level meeting.
The forum is taking place in Cascais from November 25 to 27 and coincides with the 20th anniversary of the UNAOC. This year's theme is "United in Peace: Restoring Trust, Reshaping the Future — Reflecting on Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity."
According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, Araqhchi's trip aligns with Iran's active and influential foreign policy, representing one of the world's oldest civilizations. The visit aims to foster cooperation in diplomatic processes that promote peace through interaction, dialogue, and international understanding.
Iran's Foreign Minister Engages in Diplomatic Talks at UNAOC Forum in Lisbon
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi engaged in discussions with his counterparts in Lisbon on Tuesday, during the 10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). In separate meetings, he spoke with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković in Cascais.
During his meeting with Fajon, Araghchi highlighted Iran's commitment to enhancing interactions with other nations, stressing the importance of adhering to recognized international principles to collaboratively tackle global challenges.
In his conversation with Konaković, he reiterated Iran's dedication to strengthening ties with Islamic states and expressed readiness to expand cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina across various bilateral and multilateral domains.
Araghchi also addressed pressing regional issues, condemning the aggressive policies of the Zionist regime in West Asia. He called for a united international response to halt the violence against the Palestinian people and end the occupation affecting Lebanon.
Araghchi arrived in Lisbon on November 24 to participate in the UNAOC forum, which aims to foster dialogue and understanding among civilizations.
