Iran's Nuclear Program Aligned with IAEA Framework, Says President Pezeshkian

In a meeting with Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed that Iran's pursuit of nuclear technology adheres to the legal frameworks and licenses established by the IAEA.

Iran (IMNA) - Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran has consistently expressed, in line with the Supreme Leader's fatwa, its commitment to not developing nuclear weapons, highlighting Tehran's goodwill demonstrated on numerous occasions.

Pezeshkian stated that Iran is ready to collaborate with international bodies to clarify any inquiries regarding its peaceful nuclear program. He pointed out that IAEA reports confirm Iran has fulfilled all obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), despite the United States' unilateral withdrawal from the agreement.

During the meeting, Pezeshkian also addressed the ongoing regional crises, particularly the violence in Gaza and Lebanon attributed to actions by the "Zionist regime." He condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran as a significant escalation of regional tensions and accused Israel of violating international laws by targeting civilians and infrastructure.

The president called for global human rights advocates and organizations to take decisive action against these violations rather than remaining silent, asserting that war is not in anyone's interest. However, he warned that Iran would respond firmly to any threats to its security.

Grossi praised Pezeshkian's commitment to peace and acknowledged the cooperation between Iran's Atomic Energy Organization and the IAEA. He expressed optimism that Pezeshkian's leadership would usher in a new era of constructive relations between Iran and the agency, reinforcing that strong cooperation could thwart adversarial plans against Iran’s nuclear program. Grossi arrived in Tehran on Wednesday and was received by Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
