Iranian Foreign Ministry Summons German Charge d'Affaires Over Consular Services Dispute

The Iranian foreign ministry summoned the German charge d'affaires in response to the German foreign ministry's unjustified decision to deprive Iranian nationals of consular services.

Iran (IMNA) - "The decision by the German government to stop the activities of the consulates of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Germany is an unjustified act," stated the head of the first office of the Iranian foreign ministry's West Europe department.

He emphasized that the primary function of Iranian consulates in Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich is to provide essential consular services to Iranians living in Germany and to support their interests with the host country. The closure of these centers represents a deliberate deprivation of Iranians from accessing necessary consular facilities and services.

"This decision of the German foreign minister causes unnecessary trouble for Iranian compatriots living in Germany and violates their basic rights," the Iranian diplomat added.

The summoning reflects Iran's strong opposition to what it perceives as an infringement on the rights of its citizens abroad, highlighting ongoing tensions between Tehran and Berlin regarding diplomatic relations.
