Iraqi President Rejects Use of Territory for Attacks Against Neighbors

Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid has firmly stated that Iraq opposes the use of its territory as a "launch pad" for attacks against neighboring countries, particularly Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - This declaration came during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Baghdad on Sunday, amid rising tensions following Israel's threats in response to a recent missile attack by Iran.

Rashid emphasized the urgent need for action to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon and to address the ongoing conflict affecting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. He cautioned against the potential escalation of war in the region, urging efforts to prevent the spread of conflict and maintain peace.

The Iraqi president warned that the continuation of hostilities in Gaza and Lebanon poses significant risks to regional and global security. He advocated for resolving crises through diplomatic channels rather than military means.

In addition, Rashid highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between Tehran and Baghdad, suggesting that their partnership could foster regional stability. He called for both nations to enhance ties based on their shared historical, social, and religious connections, ultimately benefiting the interests of their peoples.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi reiterated his country's commitment to maintaining international peace and security, denouncing Israel's actions against Lebanon and Gaza as violations of international law.
