Saudi Crown Prince Expresses Concerns Over Regional Crisis in Meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister

In a meeting on Wednesday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed deep concern regarding the escalating crisis and the spread of war in the region during discussions with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Riyadh.

Iran (IMNA) - Araghchi arrived in the Saudi capital as the first stop on his regional tour aimed at addressing current tensions. During their meeting, the Crown Prince emphasized the necessity for all countries in the region to work together to maintain stability and security.

Bin Salman expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of agreements between Iran and Saudi Arabia over the past year, describing the improvements in bilateral relations as positive and tangible. He stated, "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is determined to continue this process in bilateral relations."

In response, Araghchi highlighted President Masoud Pezeshkian's government policy of prioritizing neighborly ties, underscoring that expanding relations with neighboring countries is crucial for enhancing regional stability, security, and economic cooperation.

Referencing recent developments in Lebanon and Syria, Araghchi called for collective efforts from regional nations to halt military actions by Israel and prevent further destruction in Gaza and Lebanon. He stressed that addressing the crimes of the Israeli regime and stopping the ongoing conflict are essential for achieving lasting stability and security in the region.

Both officials agreed on the importance of continuing cooperation and consultations on bilateral and regional issues. Araghchi also held discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan during his visit.

After concluding his trip to Saudi Arabia, Araghchi departed for Doha, Qatar, to engage in further consultations regarding regional developments, particularly concerning Gaza and Lebanon.

This meeting comes amid heightened tensions following Iran's missile strike on Israeli-occupied territories, which was a response to recent assassinations linked to Israeli operations. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with over 42,000 Palestinians reported killed in Gaza since October 2023, alongside thousands more in Lebanon due to Israeli bombardments.
