Iran Urges Accountability for Israel's Actions in Lebanon and Palestine at UN

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, has called on human rights organizations to hold Israel accountable for its actions in Lebanon and Palestine.

Iran (IMNA) - In letters addressed to the president of the International Red Cross and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Bahreini condemned recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon and demanded an immediate international response to what he termed the "Zionist regime's aggression."

Bahreini specifically criticized the Israeli airstrikes in Beirut, which he claims resulted in the assassination of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian General Abbas Nilforooshan. He described these actions as clear violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.

Highlighting Israel's use of U.S.-made weapons, including BLU-109 bombs, Bahreini asserted that Western nations, particularly the U.S., are complicit in Israel's military operations. He urged an end to arms deliveries from Western countries to Israel.

The ambassador also referenced Iran's military response to Israeli aggression, stating that missiles were fired in defense of Iran's national sovereignty and regional security.
