Iran (IMNA) - Participating nations include Serbia, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Italy, India, Palestine, France, China, Jordan, Russia, Qatar, Norway, and Armenia. Other countries represented are Spain, Mexico, the U.S., Mongolia, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, Tunisia, Iraq, and Ukraine.
The competition is further enriched by entries from Sweden, Finland, Sri Lanka, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, Argentina, South Korea, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Bolivia, Chile, Luxembourg, Denmark, Canada, Lebanon, Syria, Austria, Poland, and Thailand. All these films will compete in various sections for both short and feature-length categories.
The lineup of selected films is expected to be announced soon. In July, festival secretary Majid Zeinolabedin noted that this year’s festival has been designed to encourage young filmmakers to showcase their works alongside other productions. He remarked on the current state of children's and youth cinema as being "extremely weak," emphasizing the urgent need for a strategic support plan.
Zeinolabedin highlighted the necessity for appropriate cultural funds to be allocated to this sector and suggested that family-friendly film screenings should be facilitated during the festival. He also called for the establishment of incentive mechanisms to support selected Iranian films during public screenings.
The 36th International Film Festival for Children and Youth is scheduled to take place in Isfahan from October 5 to 10.
