Iranian President Calls for Greater Integration Among Islamic Nations

In a significant diplomatic meeting in Doha, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the necessity for enhanced collaboration between Islamic countries, particularly with Saudi Arabia, to foster peace and stability in the region.

Iran (IMNA) - His remarks were made during discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, as part of a two-day visit to Qatar, where Pezeshkian is attending the 19th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit.

Pezeshkian expressed, "We consider Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, as our brothers," advocating for the resolution of differences and a unified approach among Muslim nations. He highlighted the importance of friendship and brotherhood in the spread of Islam worldwide[5].

The Iranian president also addressed the ongoing crises in Gaza and Lebanon, attributing these calamities to the actions of the Israeli regime. He stated that the recent military operations by Iran's armed forces were a legitimate response to continued aggression and a failure to uphold ceasefire agreements. "We do not welcome any increase in tension and crisis in the region," he asserted, urging Islamic nations to unite against such aggression[5].

Pezeshkian further pointed out that indifference among Islamic countries has allowed the Zionist regime to commit atrocities. He warned that if unity is not achieved now, other cities and nations could face similar threats in the future. He underscored Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in halting these crimes through dialogue with Western nations[5].

In response, Minister Faisal bin Farhan conveyed warm greetings from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and reaffirmed his country's commitment to improving relations with Iran. He expressed hope for resolving longstanding issues amicably, stating, "We intend to close the page of disagreements between the two countries forever" while recognizing Pezeshkian's wisdom in navigating regional tensions[5].
