New Explosions in Lebanon as Communication Devices Detonate Again

Reports from Lebanon indicate that new explosions involving wireless communication devices occurred in various parts of the country on Wednesday.

Iran (IMNA) - This follows a series of pager blasts the previous day that resulted in at least a dozen fatalities and thousands of injuries. Lebanese sources have reported uncertainty regarding the specific types of communication devices that detonated. However, some media outlets cited local sources claiming that walkie-talkies exploded in Beirut's southern suburb. Additionally, there are reports suggesting that some iPhone cell phones may have also detonated.

According to Reuters, a security source confirmed that the communication devices that exploded on Wednesday were different from the pager devices involved in Tuesday's incidents. Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah reportedly detonated late Wednesday afternoon across southern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut. At least one explosion occurred near a funeral organized by Hezbollah for those killed in the earlier pager blasts.

An informed source cited by Iranian Press TV stated that the recently detonated devices came from the same batch of cargo as the pagers, all imported from the same company. The Lebanese health ministry has reported that one person was martyred in this latest wave of explosions, with more than 100 individuals injured.

The situation remains tense as authorities investigate the causes of these explosions. The Israeli military has yet to comment on the attacks, although reports suggest officials have been advised to remain silent. The ongoing exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah have raised concerns about escalating violence in the region.
