IRGC Navy Commander Highlights Strategic Importance of Iran's Trio Islands Amid Regional Tensions

The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, has underscored the strategic significance of the trio islands—Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa—located in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran (IMNA) - In a recent statement, Tangsiri asserted that the defensive capabilities of these islands are continuously improving, declaring, "The defensive strength of these islands is increasing with each passing moment." He highlighted the high morale among IRGC Navy forces stationed there, emphasizing that their operational status is robust and their defense capabilities are expanding.

Tangsiri noted that safeguarding these islands is a primary mission of the IRGC Navy, carried out under the direct guidance of Iran’s Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief. He also discussed the recent integration of new defense systems, including missile platforms and drones, stating that these technologies are fully operational and crucial for maintaining regional security.

In a message to neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, Tangsiri reiterated Iran's commitment to promoting peace and unity, while warning against the destabilizing influence of foreign powers in the region. He quoted a verse from the Quran to emphasize Iran's resolve: "And prepare against them whatever forces you can muster."

Tangsiri's visit included evaluations of the latest defense systems deployed on the islands, ensuring readiness for any potential defensive scenarios.
