Iran (IMNA) - The Iranian mission to the United Nations labeled these claims as "baseless and misleading," emphasizing that Iran does not provide military assistance that could exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
In a statement released on Friday, the mission reiterated Iran's consistent position against the conflict, calling any military support to either side inhumane and urging other nations to cease their arms supplies. Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran's permanent representative to the UN, previously stated that the accusations from the U.S., U.K., and France are unfounded and reflect their political agendas rather than reality.
Iran has also pointed out that the influx of Western weapons into Ukraine has contributed to prolonging the conflict and harming civilians. The Iranian mission's statement followed a recent UN Security Council meeting where Western envoys coordinated their accusations against Tehran. Iran has consistently advocated for a political solution to the crisis and has called for a ceasefire, attributing the ongoing hostilities to the flow of Western arms to Ukraine.
Russia, which initiated its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, has similarly criticized the supply of Western weapons, arguing that it only serves to escalate the conflict.
