Iran Condemns Aggression, Promotes Peace, President Pezeshkian Reiterates in Call with Norway

In a recent conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's commitment to promoting peace and friendship while condemning aggression worldwide. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic's fundamental policy is to prevent tensions, engage with countries globally, and cooperate to halt wars and insecurity.

Iran (IMNA) - President Pezeshkian criticized the US for violating the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and expressed disappointment in European parties for not fulfilling their obligations under the agreement. He highlighted that Iran had met all its JCPOA commitments, whereas the US had unilaterally withdrawn from the deal, escalated pressure, and imposed sanctions on Iran.

While emphasizing Iran's preference for peaceful relations and dialogue, President Pezeshkian warned that sustained sanctions and pressure could necessitate adjustments in approach. He also denounced the double standards of the US and certain Western nations regarding human rights, particularly in light of the ongoing violence in Gaza.

President Pezeshkian commended Norway's support for the Palestinian cause and urged closer collaboration among European countries to halt Israeli aggressions against Palestinians. In response, Prime Minister Støre reaffirmed the friendly and historic relations between Norway and Iran, expressing concerns over escalating tensions in West Asia and condemning Israel's assaults on Gaza residents.

Støre highlighted Norway's early recognition of the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state, calling for swift resolution and an end to the tragic developments in Gaza. He pledged Norway's continued friendship towards Iran and support for the nation's development and prosperity.
