Iran's New Foreign Minister Outlines Priorities: Neighborliness, Hostility Toward US, and Revival of JCPOA

In an afternoon session of the Iranian parliament, newly nominated Foreign Minister Abbass Araghchi outlined his priorities for the country's foreign policy.

Iran (IMNA) - The nomination is part of President Masoud Pezeshkian's administration, which has been reviewing the qualifications of proposed ministers.

According to Araghchi, the new government will continue to adopt a neighborliness policy, similar to that of his predecessor Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. In regards to the United States, the proposed minister stated that Iran will adopt a "management of hostility" approach towards Washington.

China, Russia, and other countries that supported Iran during the sanctions era will be prioritized in foreign relations, as well as emerging powers. The revival of the Iran nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA, will remain a key priority for the Iranian government, with Araghchi reiterating that Iran's policy on the matter remains unchanged.

The removal of US sanctions on Iran is a top priority for the new government, with Araghchi emphasizing that this will be a major focus. Additionally, he emphasized that Iran's policy aims to make Iran and Islam proud, as well as continue supporting Resistance and Palestine.

The nomination is expected to be reviewed and voted on by the parliament in the coming days.
