Iran, Indonesia to strengthen ties, promote global peace and stability

In a message to Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Friday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Indonesia on its Independence Day, commemorating the anniversary of the country's proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945.

Iran (IMNA) - Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of expanding relations between Iran and Indonesia in various fields, citing historical bonds and shared interests.

The Iranian President highlighted the significant capacities of both countries in various sectors and expressed hope that the two nations will further strengthen their close relations and eternal friendship. The remarks come as both Iran and Indonesia have faced tense relations with the United States, prompting a desire to strengthen political and economic ties amid heightened global geopolitical tensions.

Notably, in May, senior officials from Iran and Indonesia signed 11 documents and agreements to boost cooperation in areas such as preferential trade, visa cancellation, cultural exchanges, pharmaceutical product supervision, science and technology, and oil and gas. The agreements aim to improve cooperation between the two nations.

Pezeshkian's message also emphasized the potential for strengthened ties between Iran and Indonesia to promote unity among Muslim nations and global peace and stability.
